Year 5 Outdoor Learning Day

Last Tuesday (15/10) we enjoyed an outdoor learning day, moving our lessons outside of the classroom and using the fabulous outdoor space and resources we have.

For maths, we used metre sticks and trundle wheels to measure the perimeter and area of our outdoor spaces including the football field and games court. We also drew a map of the school including our own key and had a go at writing a set of compass instructions to find our hidden treasure.

In English, we took a trip up to the top of the amphitheatre for a spot of poetry. We wrote a collective poem about autumn, describing the sights, sounds and smells of the season.

In the afternoon, we painted an autumn scene using mixed media; we used brushes for our autumn sky, sticks and twigs for our tree trunks and branches and leaves to replicate the leaves of our trees.
