Hengistbury Head

Year 4 had a fabulous trip to Hengistbury Head yesterday. The weather was amazing, the views glorious and the learning fun. We saw the coastal defences being used to protect the headland (gabions, groynes and marram grass) and discussed why it was important for it to be protected? We saw where the River Stour met the sea and how a sand spit had formed. We were also greeted by a lovely swarm of friendly jellyfish that were affecting the coast from Dorset to Devon. This was great as it linked in with our science topic where we have been classifying different animals. It was a great day out and really brought our learning to life.
