Stay up to date with all of the upcoming events for the school term

Dear Parents,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school website. Our hope is that you will find this site useful, and that it gives a flavour of some of the things that are happening in our school.

Our motto: Celebrate, Believe, Aspire  is important to us and so too our eight values : Perseverance, Courage, Compassion, Justice, Respect, Forgiveness, Trust and Selflessness. Through our daily interactions, our teaching and learning we strive to commit to these values, which are rooted in our Christian heritage.

We know our children at Pimperne are capable of achieving great things and we aim to  support the aspirations of each individual, to help them to believe in themselves, support and nurture their experiences and succeed in all they strive for. We aim to create an environment where each child feels safe to have a go and know that they are also, on occasion, safe to fail. For we do believe that it is through our experiences and mistakes that we learn and become determined to persevere for what is important to each of us.

The strong family ethos here at Pimperne, coupled with the Christian tradition of the school, makes an important contribution to the development of all our children.

Thank you for showing an interest in our school. We would be delighted to welcome prospective families to Pimperne Primary, as we are proud of everyone of the individuals that makes our school what it is.

To find out more, please contact the School Office for further specific information, to make an appointment to visit us or to find out the details of our next Open Morning.

School Opening – A Royal Occasion

HRH Princess Anne recently visited our school to officially open it.

Our Location

Our school is located in the heart of the small village of Pimperne in Dorset. We are very much a community focussed school with a large number of our pupils living in the village itself.

Week Beginning

28th November 2016

Our School Motto: Celebrate, Believe, Aspire

Date: Friday 2nd December 2016

A quick note to let you know what is coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Wow! What a busy time of year, so much happening. Firstly, congratulations to Year 4 on their superb violin concert. Also, hot off the press, what a joy it has been to see our KS1 pupils performing to such a high standard in their Christmas performances. Well done, we are so proud of you all.

Mr Jackson, would like to give his drums and guitar pupils the opportunity to perform to their parents, you will have been informed by text or by Mr Jackson, if your child is playing. Tuesday 6th December at 1.10pm in the hall.

Finally, the Tag Rugby finalists have won the North Dorset Games at Larksmead last week. A date in April is to be confirmed for the Dorset Finals. What a fabulous team!

Thank you to those of you that do not use our school drive to drop children off in the morning. The design of the building was not intended for this to be a public entrance as safety for our children was priority. The Governing body will be following this up in future and consequences are likely for those who disregard the previous polite requests.

Noticeboards are soon to appear on the wall adjacent to the playground gates—these boards are for PTA notices, school news and information. Just another way in which we try to communicate. Newsletters from the school will become half termly and have been replaced by fortnightly dates letters—such as this one. We are experiencing a few technical issues with uploads onto our website, we are discovering that not everything is as it looks when accessed from different points! We are trying to resolve this. We have also just unleashed a new Facebook link in order to share news and information. It is a closed group and therefore just for our school families.

Please be aware that some clubs are beginning to finish now. Running Club, Fitness Club, Tag Rugby, Choir, and Netball Skills have all finished.

Recent training has highlighted that St John’s Ambulance have an important and useful App that is easy to use and downloadable to any device.

We have sent home our ‘Adverse Weather’ policy so that you are aware of what we do (should the need arise) to assess the conditions for safely opening the school in bad weather. Please read it and keep it to hand until we are out of the chilly season.

Years 2, 5 and 6 Christmas Pantomime visit is on Wednesday 7th December, during the school day. We have been very fortunate to have negotiated a large number of tickets for the Lighthouse pantomime, at a cost that is too good an opportunity to turn down and my hope is that the children will give their feedback on return as to whether this is something we look to do again in the future.

Please may I thank you for your understanding regarding performance tickets. I am very aware that every child looks forward to seeing their parents/carers in the audience and I hope that we were able to offer that opportunity to all families. Some families who requested extra tickets will have received these as they were distributed once we knew our capacities. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding. My thanks also goes to those parents who, through no fault of their own, initially received too many tickets and returned them to the office. The error was mine – a miscommunication with the administration of tickets.
